A vacation in the Okanagan

We returned last night from a great week-long excursion to the Okanagan. Paul and I hadn't been there since we were kids so we were anxious to explore it as adults but also through our little one's eyes.

We split our time between wineries, walks and beaches, and I'm pretty sure Claire had a great time throughout - even at the wineries. She took part in the tasting process by examining the colour of the wines and sniffing them. To her dismay, her participation in the process ended there, when Mama and Daddy gulped the booze back themselves. Claire's favourite parts about visiting the wineries were the winery dogs (almost every winery had a pleasant pup) and eating grapes right from the vines. Check out Claire's grape-stained mouth in the photo below.
We had plenty of beach time - and space at the beach. Although the weather was amazing, the beach right across from our motel wasn't very busy so we felt like we had it to ourselves. Except for pesky ducks, that is. Claire was sad to leave the beach each day but then we finally realized how to sweeten the experience - with ice cream of course! There is nothing like ice cream to distract a kid from leaving the beach.

I've posted a few pics here and will post more shortly.

Sharing an ice cream cone at the end of the day was a highlight for Paul and me.
